So far for all my recordings I’ve been using the Tascam GT-R1 and it’s built in microphone. I’ve been pretty happy with the quality, but that may just be because I haven’t tried any alternatives. I did just order a Shure SM57 microphone to see if that helps with recording quality.

Being new to guitar I need to figure out my likes and dislikes. So far when making decisions on things like strings, picks, guitar setup, and just about any other decision that need to be made (outside of which guitar and amp to buy), I’ve always asked “what do you recommend” since I couldn’t really make an informed decision. A new feature I’m going to have here is a lesson recap every time I have a lesson with my instructor. These my vary from every week to every two weeks depending on my schedule. In these posts you’ll get to see what I’m learning in my lessons. For me, it will be a great re-cap and force me to get a grasp on what I just learned. Here are some pictures of my Gibson Custom Shop ES-175SP. I wrote about the guitar previously and talked about how it’s a unique ES-175. Unlike most Gibson ES-175’s, this one only has one pickup. The finish on this model is a custom finish and not like other ES-175 sunbursts as well.
