If you watch HBO’s True Blood, then you know the opening song, Bad Things by Jace Everett. Actually, if it weren’t for True Blood, I wouldn’t know the song at all. I thought it was a cool sounding guitar song, so I thought I’d give it a try. I thought it might be a bit more advanced than my current level and I was right.

A new feature I’m going to have here is a lesson recap every time I have a lesson with my instructor. These my vary from every week to every two weeks depending on my schedule. In these posts you’ll get to see what I’m learning in my lessons. For me, it will be a great re-cap and force me to get a grasp on what I just learned. Here are some pictures of my Gibson Custom Shop ES-175SP. I wrote about the guitar previously and talked about how it’s a unique ES-175. Unlike most Gibson ES-175’s, this one only has one pickup. The finish on this model is a custom finish and not like other ES-175 sunbursts as well.

I’ve been working on a quick Jazz progression in F my instructor gave me to practice. The goal with this progression was to teach me bar chords Major, Minor, Dominant 7th and Minor 7th positions with roots on the 6th and 5th strings.

This is the opening track to Dan Auerbach’s solo album Keep It Hid. Dan of course is the guitarist and lead singer of The Black Keys. It’s a great album and if you like The Black Keys you should check it out. Actually, you should check it out even if you don’t like The Black Keys because it has a different feel.
The song is pretty straight forward. Mostly G and C chords with a few D’s thrown in and a brief appearance by the Am chord. There is a capo on the second fret. You can find the tabs for the song here.
