Jace Everett - Bad Things

Bad Things

If you watch HBO’s True Blood, then you know the opening song, Bad Things by Jace Everett. Actually, if it weren’t for True Blood, I wouldn’t know the song at all. I thought it was a cool sounding guitar song, so I thought I’d give it a try. I thought it might be a bit more advanced than my current level and I was right.

So, what we have in the video today isn’t the complete Bad Things. I wouldn’t even call it a cover… it’s more of an “inspired by” and it only goes up until the first guitar solo (yeah, I know… that’s the hard part). But, I’m going to keep working on it and re-post a full version when I get it all down. One problem is that the tabs I found contain the first solo but not the second. I’m not sure how I’m going to deal with that since my transcribing skills are non-existent.

Unfortunately I sold my Gretsch 5120 a few weeks ago, because that would have been perfect for this song. Or maybe a need an old looking relic’d guitar like the one the Strat-O-Blogger posted about the other day. It even has a True Blood look and feel to it.

Guitar: Gibson Les Paul Goldtop ’57 Reissue
Amp: Vox AC15CC
Effects: Keeley Fuzz Head

I like the sound. Sounds like some old Link Wray or something.

I like the tone you’re getting there. Keeley fuzz sounds perfect for that song.

    Nice job!

Check out Guitar World’s recent tab, the one with Lynyrd Skynyrd on the cover. Really good tab of this song. I like that sort of creepy thing he does with that blues groove. I’ve never heard anyone do that before. Jeff Perrin did the tab, he’s the best tab transcriber they have.
